* Rudy Giuliani was a registered Democrat for much of his life. He served as
a Democrat Party committeeman on Long Island when he was 21. (U.S. News &
World Report, 3/23/87; USA Today, 12/20/99). In 1973 he re-registered
from Democrat to independent. In 1980 he registered Republican.
Key
issues and where Republican candidate Rudy Giuliani stands on them.
Abortion:
“I’m pro-choice. I’m pro-gay rights.” Rudolph
Giuliani. (CNN Inside Politics, 12/2/99)
Abortion Funding - “Charles Perkins, Giuliani’s spokesman, said Giuliani would continue abortion funding despite his personal beliefs.” (Associated Press 7/7/89) Abortions were funded with New York City taxpayers’ money during Mayor Giuliani’s two terms, 1994-2001. Rudy Giuliani personally gave money to Planned Parenthood during the 1990s. (AlaskaReport News, 5/8/07)
Partial Birth Abortion Ban - During
his competition with Hillary Clinton for a New York State seat in the United
States Senate in 2000, he said that he supported then president Bill Clinton’s
veto of a law that banned partial birth abortion: “I would vote to preserve
the option for women,” said Giuliani.
“Mayor signs bills securing rights, benefits for gay partners” (headline and article, Staten Island Advance, 7/8/98)
As mayor, Rudy Giuliani signed a bill that secured rights and benefits for homosexual partners. He led gay pride parades in New York City, the last one just 3 months before 9/11. Over the past decade, Giuliani has dressed in women’s clothes several times at public events (watch Rudy at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4IrE6FMpai8). When he was evicted from the mayor’s mansion by his second wife for infidelity, he moved in with two homosexuals, and then married his third wife. He is her third husband. Giuliani’s campaign literature implies he is concerned about preserving the sanctity of marriage.
“This lawsuit is meant to end the free pass that the
gun industry has so long enjoyed.” – Mayor Giuliani, when NYC filed suit
against 24 major gun manufacturers and distributors, 6/20/00.
As mayor, Rudy Giuliani aggressively went after two dozen
major gun manufacturers and distributors with a lawsuit filed by New York City,
even though there already were laws against possession of firearms within the
city. The lawsuit prompted federal legislation to protect Second Amendment
rights, however, the case is still open.
“Of 75 judges Mayor Giuliani
appointed, Democrats outnumbered Republicans 8 to 1. His judicial appointments
included a lesbian activist and an abortion activist.” (Politico,
3/3/07)
Illegal Immigration - Under the Giuliani
administration, New York became a “Sanctuary City” for illegal aliens. Mayor
Giuliani condemned Californians for passing Proposition 187, Illegal Aliens,
Ineligibility for Public Service, which attempted to stem the influx of
illegal aliens into California.
NAFTA Superhighway - “The Trans-Texas Corridor, part of the massive superhighway linking Mexico to Canada through the US, will for the first time rely on a foreign entity, Cintra of Spain, to not only maintain the toll road but have a stake in building, controlling operations, and expanding new roads and critical infrastructure. All negotiations with Cintra were and are presently handled by the law firm, Bracewell and Giuliani, LLP, of which Presidential candidate Giuliani has been a senior executive partner since March 2005. Particularly unnerving, given Giuliani’s personal experience on 9-11, is his defense of open borders at any cost while condoning the NAFTA Superhighway corridor and by extension the North American Union, without the purview or consent of the U.S. Congress or the will of the American people.” – (The NAFTA Superhighway has Giuliani as a key player. – Diane Grassi, freelance columnist 5/4/07.)

Taxes:
Giuliani
opposed the Bush tax cut. “Although Mr. Giuliani is running as a pro-gun
control, pro-abortion-rights Republican who likes tax cuts, he did shy away
yesterday from the large tax cut proposal of his political benefactor, George W.
Bush, which has been criticized as too large and favorable toward the rich.” (New
York Times, 2/04/00)
